Since 2004, the Gauteng Gambling Board and the Department of Economic Development have been co-sponsors of various NRGP problem gambling awareness projects in Gauteng.
- Schools –since inception of the schools project in 2004 up to the end of February 2008 presentations have been held for nearly 85 000 learners at 154 schools.
- during 2007/8 presentations were held at 49 schools reaching 27 822 learners
- during 2006/7 presentations were held at 29 schools reaching 15 039 learners
- during 2005/6 presentations were held at 34 schools reaching 22 954 learners
- during 2004/5 presentations were held at 40 schools reaching 17 217 learners
- AllPay – a pilot programme was launched in November 2006 and up to the end of February 2008 some 361 major metropolitan paypoints had been visited where a team of five specially trained NRGP facilitators personally interacted with an estimated 131 220 beneficiaries of social grants and pensions
- during 2007/8 facilitators handed out leaflets to about 74 000 pensioners at 148 AllPay stations
- during 2006/7 facilitators handed out leaflets to some 57 220 pensioners at 213 AllPay stations
- Show business –the NRGP has participated in numerous local public shows such as the Rand Show (five times), the Pretoria Show (three times), and the Soweto Fair, as well as the Expo 50 Plus for seniors citizens in Pretoria (twice).
- Money Sense –during 2007/8 the Money Sense debt management programme got underway, reaching 40 700 employees at six major companies, bringing the number reached since inception to 65 523 employees at 35 companies. - Training initiatives – 40 social workers completed the NRGP health care worker programme at the Gauteng Substance Abuse Forum in November 2006; during 2006 some 160 human resources and employee assistance practitioners completed the “Problem Gambling in the Workplace “ programme, bringing the tally to 416 delegates at 54 companies and institutions since inception in 2005 of this ‘train-the-trainer’ initiative
